Have you ever woken up in the early and bright morning, felt the cold wind that is circling around your bedroom and heard the familiar melody of a carol or Christmas hymn in chorus in memory of Christ’s birth? If you have, it must be Christmas! Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Christmas holiday lasts for twelve days, from 25 December to 6 January. The story is simple : Jesus is born, angels announce his birth to shepherds in the fields and he is visited by three Magis, who offer him gifts. The significance of these events for Christians is connected to their belief that Jesus is the son of God and the Messiah sent from heaven to save the world from sin.

Like other people, I think Christmas represents a time of happiness for everyone. It is a good time when families and close friends come home to be with the people they love. They often gather together, decorate the house with their hands, have parties, enjoy the delicious food and have many interesting activities together, which makes relationship closer and closer. Besides this, when Christmas is coming, people usually exchange gifts  with each other. In other words,  this holiday is usually associated with receiving gifts. Personally, I think giving a gift is just as great as receiving one. Most of the time giving can be even more enjoyable. The whole idea of finding a perfect gift and making someone smile because of your gift may be one of the reasons that Christmas brings happiness to everyone.

Moreover, it is a great day for children. They fervently look for Santa Claus with his red and white suit and white and long false beard. He is supposed to appear to distribute attractive gifts to the children on this special day. In the hope that Santa Claus will go through the chimney of their house and give them a gift at Christmas night, every child tries to study harder as well as become an obedient child. But does Santa Claus really exist? Maybe our parents are Santa Claus since they can understand what their children want for Christmas. In my opinion, however, no matter if Santa Clause is a fictional character or not, it is more important to teach children how to work hard and help them live better.

In conclusion, Christmas is a pretty great holiday, wouldn’t you agree? There is so much to love about Christmas. I love receiving and giving lovely presents, taking part in many interesting activities, wandering around the streets with my friends and enjoying shops decorated with beautiful Christmas trees and so on during this special holiday. But most of all, I love this time of year because I get the chance to be with my family and friends.
